The biggest failing of business owners is that they have huge amounts of energy.
At least, it’s like that when they first start out in business. I can assure you, business has a way of knocking that youthful energy out of you very quickly.
I see many business owners getting through the tough times mentality by telling themselves that things will eventually get better. They invariably don’t.
Once a business gets established, surviving the first five years, business owners quickly and easily justify the additional work hours by telling themselves that it will eventually build more profits!
They have to tell themselves this because it has to compensate in their mind for the crazy long hours they put in, the lack of family time, the physical neglect of themselves and the emotional neglect of their loved ones.
Your business is there to create a bigger life for you and your loved ones. It’s not there to take the life you have away from you.
Please get that and get that fast!
The only escape for many business owners would be to one day sell the business and take a long earned break.
I’m totally against that type of thinking. It’s a false economy… Work hard, slog your guts out for a few years then sell it, take a break and start the process all over again.
The problem with that is that bad habits get created along the way that never get broken until a crisis hits you. What types of bad habits come from this kind of mentality? The habit of not taking notice of your health, your spouse, your kids, your parents, your siblings, your friends, your hobbies and your investments.
You end up becoming an expert at only taking notice of the business and trying to make more.
And yes, you do get more! More stress, more distance from loved ones, more complexities, more sleepless nights, more health issues, more confusion – more of everything except what you really want out of your life.
I believe that with LESS of the wrong habits you get MORE of the right habits.
There’s always a moment when you sit down with a client and you notice in their face and in their body language that there was something you said that really hit home for them.
That’s usually the time when they are ready for the 24-Hour Human Battery strategy.
